Intermediate exams start today, according to Shafqat
Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood said on Friday that exams would start in the federal capital as well as in the provinces from Saturday (today), adding that the decision was taken unanimously by all federating units .
“No wonder the league N, which is in the process of breaking up, is playing politics with students to gain popularity at low cost. People like [PML-N leaders] Ahsan Iqbal and Saad Rafiq knew that exams had already started in Balochistan and Sindh, so other students cannot be treated any differently, ”he said in a series of tweets.
The minister’s reaction comes after Thursday’s National Assembly session where PML-N and PPP leaders presented a notice drawing attention to ongoing protests by intermediate students in various parts of the country against the decision. government to take their exams on short notice. .
The government had rejected the opposition’s proposal, saying it was not possible as reviews were about to start in a day or two. Additionally, AN President Asad Qaiser assured opposition lawmakers to resolve the issue after meeting with Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood. He also called on the government and the opposition to sit down together on this issue and resolve it.
The education minister asserted that PML-N leaders know that the decision to take the exams was taken unanimously by all federated units, including the PML-N government in Azad Jammu-et- Kashmir and PPP in Sindh. They, he added, know that students cannot be promoted on the basis of previous exams because there were no exams last year.
“They know that the decision to take the exams was taken unanimously by all the federated units, including the N government in the AJK and the PPP in Sindh,” we read.
Addressing opposition leaders, he said Saad and Ahsan should know that in order to educate people, exams are the “best measure” to assess students’ abilities, adding that class 12 is very important because students had to go to universities and vocational colleges. based on the results of the HSSC.
“Why should hard-working students be discriminated against,” Shafqat said and called on PML-N leaders to stop “cheap politics”.
He went on to say that the two leaders of the PML-N should know that after the 18th Constitutional Amendment only one educational council – out of 30 – the federal council was under the federal government. “Yet they claimed that an order from the federal minister could stop exams across the country.”
The minister alleged that the leaders of the PML-N again made a failed attempt at cheap politics.
“The exams start tomorrow (Saturday) in the other provinces and federating units. I wish all the students who take tomorrow’s exams the best. Inshallah, everything will be fine, ”Shafqat said.
While providing an opportunity for students who wanted more time to prepare, he said they could avail themselves of the opportunity to sit for additional exams that would be taken after two to three months by all boards. “Why these exams should be postponed and the students who studied to be penalized,” he added.
Reacting to Shafqat’s tweets, PML-N leaders again called on the government to postpone the 45-day interim reviews.
“Many children live in remote areas of Pakistan, not all of Pakistan’s children belong to the elite class. The government has imposed a cruel measure on children. The demand for children is justified so that they can complete or prepare their study program, ”Iqbal said during a press conference with Saad Rafique and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
He added that children should be granted a 45-day exemption if they applied for it.
Regarding the NA session debate, he said that an important issue was discussed in the lower house the other day, namely that Pakistani youth were going through “a lot of problems” regarding exams.
Speaking of the AN president’s assurance, Rafique said Qaiser had asked the government to sit down with the opposition on the issue. “I texted the NA speaker that evening that no one had contacted him,” he added.
The leader of the PML-N called for the immediate release of the arrested children.
“On the one hand, they say the Minister of Education is in Kashmir, while someone says he is on tour in the northern regions. Is the country’s Minister of Education missing, do we need to put an advertisement? Said Rafique. (WITH APP ENTRY)
